Very rough and bad start to the season, had a doe quarter out on me as I hit the release and bam gut shot lost the deer in thickets almost no blood. several misses with bow and crossbow and when I was to my end , if it could go wrong it will, had misfire  with my optima pro i told the misses one more thing goes wrong i'm done for the season and the slam Thursday laid the smack down on a early season doe with the CVA optima pro smoke pole.
just would not give up the quartering shot so took the neck shot, bam were she stood and were she laid , instant heart shot.

Sorry about the bad luck, but congrats on the smack down.

My tally so far is one very big old six point with a neck shot from the Ruger .308 and two does with one single shot also from the Ruger.   I also had a friend from Florida give me a decent but small racked eight for the freezer.   I'm chasing two specific bucks and have passed on opportunities on several does and young bucks.  Counting today I only have 32 days left in this season so I'll be stepping up the pressure and may have to end up killing another doe or two before the season ends.

These are the two I'm hoping to kill.

I haven't killed the big eight, yet; but still have 'til Jan. 1st to get it done.   A friend killed the ten two weeks ago just down the road less than 1/2 mile from me.
